Cookies and the Meta pixel

We advertise this event on Facebook and Instagram, and this site carries the Meta pixel so we can see which of those ads actually lead to a booking. It sets cookies in your browser and tells Meta that a browser visited this site — and, if you buy, that a purchase happened.

Meta may match that against your Facebook or Instagram account and use it to show you our ads again, and to help us reach people like you. What Meta does with it after that is governed by their own privacy policy, not ours.

We use it to spend advertising money sensibly. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we never attach it to anything you tell us at checkout.

You can turn this off. Your browser’s settings will block or clear these cookies, and Facebook’s own ad settings control how Meta uses your activity. Blocking it changes nothing about buying a seat or attending — the site works identically either way.

Our hosting provider also keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to build a profile of anybody.

What we collect when you buy

You give this to Stripe at checkout, and Stripe passes it to us:

• Your name, email address and phone number.
• Your billing address.
• Which event and how many seats.
• Anything you type into the checkout, such as the names of team members or dietary requirements.

We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe handles the card itself and is certified to do so.

If you text us, we have your message and your number.

What we use it for

• Giving you the seat you paid for, and getting you the venue, timings and joining details.
• Setting up your Viral Hijack account and the workshop credits on it.
• Telling the venue about dietary requirements and headcount.
• Answering you when you get in touch.
• Emailing you about this event and future ones. You can stop those at any time with the unsubscribe link, and it does not affect your seat.

Who else gets your data

Only the people who have to have it in order for the event to happen:

• Stripe — payments.
• Our email provider — confirmations and event emails.
• Viral Hijack — creating your account and applying credits.
• The venue — headcount and dietary requirements only, never payment details.

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, swap it, or hand it to advertisers. Nobody has ever paid us for a list and nobody is going to.

How long we keep it

Records of a purchase are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is several years. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Your choices

Ask us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Unsubscribing from emails takes one click and needs no explanation.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your data. Ask and we will honour them — it is easier for everyone than arguing about which rules apply.

Children

This event is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.
